Changing Server Provider

As most of you have noticed there are lag issues on the element server. I have tried to fix this by changing some config stuff which could have been causing the lag. Sadly they weren't the problem so the only thing that can be causing the lag is the serverprovider itself. I got today an explenation about server hosters by Rockcat that could explain why they are the reason of our lag. (not going to write it down here to long)

I also have got some suggestions about buying a dedicated machine instead of a vps, this might help the lag. The price should be around the same of the VPS we are paying for atm if we buy a not good machine. But Rockcat is going to buy one himself as well in Januari and if we both (element and cicho) pay 1/2 of the price we should be able to buy an ever better machine.

So i think its best to stop the contract with vpshosting.nl today, this is normally still inside the 2 week moneyback thingy so we shouldn't have lost any money yet. What i suggest also is that we buy 1 month at an other provider and if the lag is fixed we can stay there, if not we can also buy a dedicated machine, with or without rockcat.

if we are not paying any fines yes, yes cancel the contract asap!
how expensive would it be to get a real server? I don't think it would change that much in terms of lag, cause a lot of other factors would come in!
let's just try another provider, right now the server is always empty anyway.

Allright if anybody sees kwakkie, please notify him about this post asap, he atm still does the financial things so he needs to cancel the contract ;s

Do you know whats the price of that machine rockcat will buy? actually i don't think it will be that nice if we buy it together with them.

two suggestions: may we shall ask phantoms, if they are able to host our server on there? i think they have some space free.

or we change at first our hoster.


the thing with that empty server. actually in my opinion, if xontic 1.0 is out of store/ able to download, we should try that. maybe we can arange a same server like now in nex, in xonotic. actually we have to change to xonotic, i dont mention all or alldays, cause its no problem to play also nex, but in xonotic i think there isnt a real good ctf minsta server. and thats the reason why our server would be full.

First of all, yes if 1.0 comes out we might change but first we should testrun a server there and see how that goes. Second dtg has a good ctf minsta and axg will start one soon to.
