Which weapon on our server?

I don't know if this is the right place, but anyway. I recently got bored of playing nex so wanted to tweak a little bit the models
Firstly, i found the xonotic nexgun model and i converted it to nexuiz minsta..
If anyone wants to try it, here's the .pk3:

First of all i will write an other reply later when i checked your models.

Second: To make the pictures be viewed directly on the forum you have to click the "host an image" button. This is located in the row of buttons like B I and so on. Its the button with an image and little disc on there (17th button). When you click that you can select an image from your computer. When selected you click "host it". When done that you should see 3 links; one of Thumbnail, one of image and one of image url, you copy the one of image and paste it in your reply. Then finally you click upload and you are all done

I like the look of the xonotic model but my aim sucks for some reason when i use it xD But i can try to make it default of our server.

Do you maybe have a .pk3 download of your own made model?

I would like to suggest the minsta_Rmod gun as model for our server unless nuff his own made model is super awesome but i dont have the pk3 for it yet

Nuff i like ur weapon, its a nice start. But i think it would be a nicer weapon for cra then for minsta
I wouldn't do that weapon in gold. May other colours like hmm yellow-blue-lighting green :O
What are you thinking? And can i may have another point of view of the gun?

a better point of view:





it looks gold ingame because:
1stly i set the my shirt/pants colours to orange/red and it colours the weapon by that
2ndly the texture i put on the model is just for experiment and its almost white.
+ i didn't set the pants/shirt colour to go just where i want, the whole model is at a very early state.

both my and the xonotic models change colours by your team's colour.

I can tell you what happened. I made a test variant and wrote an article for the vecxis wiki on how to make new weapons.
Here is a link to the cloud directory where I've put all weapons I've made and a lot (if not all) posts on how to make weapons. In some .txt files you may see some words in cyrillic writing - in one file I was keeping track of how much time I'd spent and what time of the day I had been working so they are not relevant to the process of making weapons.

I believe here are a lot of this weapon's versions and a lot of other substitutes to the mistanex model. A problem is that all of these work only in Nexuiz or Vecxis, and what is more, the positioning coordinates of a weapon model in Nexuiz do not exactly correspond to these in Vecxis. I never figured out a way to make them work in Xonotic whatsoever.

Is the model in the vecxis folder the one you made? What are the ones from nexuiz? How can i install them just for me in Xonotic?

Yes, that is the one I made from scratch while writing the article for the vecxis wiki, to demonstrate the process.

I've packed all the weapons I have in the nexuiz-gunmodels-all.zip archive. You can find a lot of stuff there Not sure I can remember what all of them are but I will try:
- config-minsta.cfg -> my config for minsta servers since for all weapons I had set up more complicated keys which conflicted with the ones I used for minsta

- gun.pk3 -> that was one of my first attempts to make a gun from scratch myself
- ivgun.pk3 -> possibly the next version of the same thing
- ivgun4-new-tex.pk3 -> next version of the above

- ivgun4-traditional.pk3 -> yet another version
- Kwakkies-q3_railgun_iron.pk3 - I saw Kwak had uploaded a weapon, so I put it in the master archive
- minstanex.pk3 - not sure what this is

- minsta_Rmod.pk3 - I believe I found this on a forum of a clan, I don't remember which it was. Very well made weapon, I highly recommend you try it.
- minsta_tuba.pk3 - I would suspect this is the same as Kwakkies-q3_railgun_iron.pk3 since that was a tuba too, so idk what it is
- model6.blend - one of the many prototypes of the weapon I wanted to be original and for the element server

- nex-as-minsta-default.pk3 -> the nexuiz nex model as it is, just acting as minstanex
- nex-as-minsta-rail-sound.pk3 -> same thing but with the sound of the q3 railgun
- prophets-growlernex_v2.pk3 -> the weapon from prophets

- q3_railgun_iron.pk3 -> the railgun we know from quake 3 ported to Nexuiz. This one doesn't change colours when shooting though, it's broken cause nex is way more intense
- rifle-as-minsta.pk3 -> the rifle model you see on cra servers but acting as minstanex
- rifle-as-minsta-pushed.pk3 -> it had some positioning problems so I moved it a little bit

- xon-nexgun.pk3 -> the nex model from Xonotic acting as minstanex on Nexuiz  
- xon-nexgun-rail-sound.pk3 -> the same model but with railgun sound. Just messing around with sounds

I'm not 100% sure I was accurate about all of these so I might have made some mistakes, sorry Just too lazy to try them all

I have tried to just put the pk3 file in the Xonotic data folder, but sadly it doesn't work that way, so none of the above models will work...
There was a minsta_Rmod package for Xonotic that worked, I forget where it was though. If I find it I might look into it and try making the other models work in Xonotic too. I have tried in the past to no success though, but I might succeed this time, who knows.

I can port some more models to Xonotic, any suggestions?

Is there a possibility to edit the texture of the flags and add the new element logo to it? This would be epic if we could make it standard for the server

How did you port those to xono? I never got that done. For the Flags, we need the yellow and purple flags too. For the 4 base maps. I did try to fix that but did not get it to work. Do you have any idea nuff?

I like the idea of vega, to make own logo on flags, and fix those on our server.

@Kwakkie I literally took a finished package, looked at the structure, replicated it and it worked Having messed with too much CG stuff is key though. Will see what I can do

I've just managed to make the classic flags appear in 4 colours and put the Element logo:

I know the Element servers are down but hey, why not make some mods anyway.

nexuiz-minstanex.pk3 - the Nexuiz minstanex converted to work in Xonotic


nexuiz11-nex.pk3 - the originalest original nex - I took it from the oldest version of Nexuiz I found haha


xon-nex.pk3 - Xonotic vortex/nex converted to minstanex - though I haven't been able to make it change colour as it shoots, like the nex does - possibly in a next update


To try any of the above .pk3 archives just drop it into the data folder where your config.cfg is.
This is getting a little offtopic so I'll be posting future updates on mods in the Development section.

Woooow very sexy nuff!! I'm downloading those flags right this moment Sadly the yellow one doesn't seem so clear because the element logo only has a white glow. Should i give you a sample of the logo where the logo itself is white with a black glow? This way the logo might be a little more visible Just let me know!

I also finally downloaded one of your gunmodels

P.S.: Is it possible to to make some of these gunmodels not apear as much on the screen? They look awesome but I feel like they're always taking so much space on my screen => i can't see the people I want to frag Just wondering.

P.P.S: For some reason adding those models removed my red/blue beam when i shoot my instagun Is this normal?

I also found some of the old nexmodels (i'm sure they are somewhere on this forum). This folder includes my own ported tuba to instagib I did a long time ago for a joke Not sure if they work on Xonotic though xD
