Minecraft-Server (Work)

ok guys,

I spended some time today with testing some stuff about the Minecraft-Server.

Here's what i found out:

1. Minecraft in Dropbox works fine.
2. many people can host the server, they just need dropbox.

So this it how it works:
1. Get dropbox (IMPORTANT: Let me invite you! Then i get extra space, what's very important for me!)
2. Tell me you have it, then i'll share the Folder with you.
3. Start the Server.

What's important?
1. To provide an online server, you'll have to make a port-forwarding
2. I can tell you how to do so.
3. If many people host the server, we need to make clear, in which order people host the server, to prevent double-hosting.
4. A DNS woud be helfpull for easier finding of the servers. (Im working on that).

What's better at more hoster?

1. Mostly constant hosting. e.g. if im not there, somebody else coud host, so guys can play on it.

What are problems?

1. MC needs some ressources, but it runs on the most PC's
2. A server always needs Internet-Connection. With 0 people on it, it doesn't really influenece you. But with 3 people i get lagg in nexuiz.

I have dropbox but i tried a server before with hamachi and this didn't work with my small amount of RAM, if you want i could try again with your help and with you helping me to portforward

Guys to be honest i think its better to let it be hosted by one person, the problem is that we dont have anybody who can do that :/ i'll search a bit around and ask some of my friends f they can do it but idk

maybe there's enough space for minecraft on mics server?

Maybe yes but then via dropbox so i can edit it when needed

Hm - I'm personally more interested in the Xonotic server. Especially after reading the xonotic-faq with the reasons why it was forked from nexuiz. But I also don't know how long I will keep the server - as you mentioned Freak - it's not used that much at the moment - which doesn't keep hetzner from billing me

About the dropbox thing - I don't really get it? Where's the connection between mc-server and dropbox?

A friend of me can host it, but he can start in 2 month.

Sounds great is he ok with using dropbox?
